For GESS to be the education partner of choice for families, our academic team plays a pivotal role, bringing with them rich experience, professional expertise and plenty of passion. We are proud to have as part of the GESS family… our new Secondary teachers in Academic Year 2022/23.

Dania Fong

Dania attained her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She also holds a Masters in Teaching Secondary Social Sciences from the University of Southern California. She has taught in international schools for 8 years prior to GESS.

Florian Borchers

Florian lived in China for two years after his graduation. After receiving his teaching qualification in 2016, he worked as a high school teacher in Baden-Württemberg.

Franziska Barnickel

Franziska has international experience as a foreign language assistant in Ireland and as well as GESS. She pursued English and German during and after her teaching training at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Frieburg. She has also attained a part-time Master of International Education. From 2016, she taught at the International German School HCMC in Vietnam and coordinated the development of the IB programme.

Dr Franziska Bossy

Franziska obtained a PhD degree in Romance Philology from the University of Kiel in Northern Germany. She was involved in German projects as part of her academic teaching assignment at the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. Additionally, she worked as a journalist for German media in the cities of Lübeck and Hamburg.

Irene van Spreeken-Konigs

Irene studied German, Language and Culture, and holds a Masters in Education. She has worked as a German teacher for 2 years for the BASF in Berlin and the Netherlands, before moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to teach Dutch.

Janis Groß

Janis studied Sport Science, Political Science and Economics at the TU Darmstadt. Since 2019, he worked at the Viktoriaschule Darmstadt as a teacher for sports, politics and economics, as well as being the school’s sport coordinator since 2021.

Lonne Miltenburg

Lonne holds a Bachelor degree in Education from HAN University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education at ArteEZ, the Netherlands. She has taught in pre-schools, secondary, adult and special needs education domains in the Netherlands, Australia and Singapore.

Karsten Fink

Karsten studied and had his teacher training in Giessen. He proceeded to work several years at the German School in Shanghai, and was responsible for the subject coordination in Chemistry and Maths camps. He also worked for 5 years at a grammar school in Frankfurt as an IT officer.

Patricia Vlad

Patricia has a Bachelor and Masters in Education from the University of Cambridge, a Certificate in Mathematics from Harvard University, and a Certificate in Blockchain Technology from the University of Oxford. She has worked in industries related to STEAM in countries like the UK, the UAE and China.

Piera Coloma Heidel

Piera completed her teacher training studies for Secondary School at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt. During her teacher training, she gained her first experience abroad as a foreign language assistant in France. She worked as a coordinator for German as a foreign language at a high school in Offenbach.

Silke Selent

Silke taught at a high school in Berlin for seven years. She moved from Berlin to Singapore in 2021, and has been working in GESS since February 2022 in various areas, before her latest role.

Vanessa Wartusch

Vanessa completed her studies at a University in Heidelberg, spending some semesters abroad in Sweden and Denmark. She has taught German and PE in Frankfurt for 5 years, before coming to Singapore in 2014.

Estefania Puyo

Estefania holds a Bachelor in Spanish Language and Literature, and a Masters in teaching Spanish, Spanish and Latin American Literature, and Spanish Language. She has been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for more than 8 years. From 2019 to 2022, she organised the DELE exams in Singapore, and was chief examiner and person in charge.
