After a long hiatus from tournaments (since the cancellation of ACSIS), the spirit of competitive sports was recently revived at GESS in the form of the GESS Games! This multi-sport, CCA internal tournament series was created to engage our athletes who have been raring to go back to the field, courts and pool.
With a total of 9 team sports tournaments, organised in a 4 vs. 4 format, each week the various teams have been taking on one opponent each. Additionally, there are one-off events in the swimming (Junior and Secondary Dolphin groups), table tennis and cross country categories.
We have been witnessing a full display of prowess from the students who have doing extremely well in the games!
To reward the passion of our students, we have been giving out gold, silver and bronze medals to victorious teams and encouraging them to keep going.

Top 3 Highlights
- The Junior School Basketball Mixed Tournament has been a competitive and action-packed one, without a doubt. Notably, we had two girls-only teams among the mix and they gave the other reams a real run for their money with their dedication and skills.
- The two swim events have been extremely successful meets. With our new scoreboard and timing system at the GESS swimming pool, we have been able to time our students even more accurately and both our Junior and Secondary School Dolphins have smashed many of their personal bests. Both events gave us a great sneak peek into how exciting post-Covid, inter-school swim meets at GESS will be!
- The Middle School Badminton Mixed Tournament was a close-fought competition over the entire seven weeks. Teams were very evenly balanced and this became a reason for a lot of nail-biting matchups and suspense until the very end.
We have been incredibly fortunate to have already had a couple of weeks of exciting tournaments. While most of the tournaments have wrapped up, there are a few fixtures that could not proceed as planned due to the tightening of restrictions. We hope, however, that even in these times our students’ love for sports will continue to grow!
