As the 2022-2023 school year draws to a close, it was time to thank our parent volunteers and the partners in our BeyondClassrooms programme with a BBQ. Over 60 parent volunteers and 15 partners accepted the invitation and, after a thank you speech by Mr. Pauli, enjoyed the get-together and made plans for the coming school year. Without the commitment of our dedicated parent volunteers and the close cooperation with our partners, many activities would not have been possible this year.

Our Board of Governors is working tirelessly to ensure that GESS continues to be strategically well-positioned and that the school is moving in the right direction and towards a secure future.

Our Parents Committee pools information from parent representatives of each class and then works with school management to continually improve GESS. Our class parent representatives help families in each class integrate into the GESS community and work with teachers to make improvements. All of these serve our students and the entire school community.

After two years, our Events Team organised the Christmas Bazaar for the school community to come together and exchange ideas. We really appreciate the time our Events Team spent preparing for this and are looking forward to the International Summer Festival on 17 June.

And what would the school be without our Buddies Team? Every school year, we welcome new families from all over the world who enroll their children at GESS. Especially for families who relocate to different countries every 3 or 4 years, and also for families who are leaving their home country for the first time, the buddy is the first contact person who understands the worries and needs of the incoming families and provides valuable tips in the beginning. This makes it easier to settle into a new environment for the families to feel at home in Singapore more quickly.

Additionally, we were very pleased that so many of our BeyondClassrooms partners joined us to continue building on the great relationships we have established with them over the past year, and to get to know our students better. We were especially grateful that our students were able to benefit not only from interesting talks but also from internships that gave them a first insight into professional life.

For our students to benefit as much as possible from the presence of the partners, we organised a workshop for them right before the BBQ, where they received important tips on topics such as how to behave correctly in an interview, how important networking is today and how to increase the chances of getting an internship. We had representatives of BMW Group Asia, Siemens, BASF, FIBS Logistics, T-Systems, Hima, and Borussia Academy join the workshop.

We would like to thank all our parent volunteers and BeyondClassrooms partners for their commitment this year and are looking forward to seeing what great ideas they have for next year.
