In August, Daniel visited us with his family, eager to show them his old home. And although he did not spend his school years at our new campus, he felt very much reminded of his school days and childhood at GESS (or DSS back then) and reminisced with some of his old teachers.

Aug 1989 – Jun 2000
What has your learning journey been like after GESS?
A-Levels in Lemgo, then I studied Computer Science in Göttingen.
Could you share your career path with us as well as tell us a bit about your current job?
After a year at the University of Göttingen, I went to Airbus at Lake Constance. I have been there for 14 years, first
first as a software developer and software architect and now as a team leader in the commercialisation of satellite data.
What is your favourite memory of your time at GESS?
Many things: school festivals, class trips to Sibu, the CD project with Mr. Kemper.
What do you miss about Singapore and your life there?
The variety of food.
Do/did you have any favourite spots in Singapore?
Orchard Road and Little India.
How do you think your time at GESS and in Singapore has impacted your (future) life?
Certainly good education through good teachers. But also being open-minded and having an understanding of other cultures.
What makes GESS special to you?
It’s my childhood.
